Formed in 2000, The UN Global Compact is a United Nations pact to get businesses and firms worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies.
Each year during the UN General Assembly in New York City, the UNGC Leaders Summit provides global sustainability leaders the tools, network, knowledge, and inspiration needed to scale the impact of private sector contributions to the 2030 Agenda. In 2024, the UN Global Compact approached Champions Design to develop the Leaders Summit event identity. The flags of the 193 Member States and two Observer States hold a power to create connections across the globe. Champions used the study of flag making (vexillography) to develop a suite of twenty-six graphics for the Leaders Summit. Each flag is based on a letter of the alphabet, and the set is intended to be used as abstract graphics or literal letters for display signage and branding.
